Hotel Okura Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan
Opening September 2019

When the iconic 1960's Hotel Okura Tokyo was partially demolished in 2015 ahead of renovations, it was met with public outcry and a petition to retain its classic lobby. Happily, the operator agreed to restore much of the hotels original features, albeit across two new towers—the Okura Prestige and Okura Heritage buildings. The luxury hotel, which is next door to the US Embassy in Tokyo's Minato Ward, will reopen as the Okura Tokyo following a $979 million renovation, just in time for the 2020 Summer Olympics.
